A few words about us

Our goal is to train children in good character and ethical values. This is accomplished by training teachers in the methodologies of teaching good character traits to children. Theodore Roosevelt once said, "To train a student in mind and not in morals, is to train a menace to society." We strongly agree with President Roosevelt’s statement. If our world is to be a better place in which to live then we must educate our children in good moral and ethical values.

American teachers are trained to teach the Character for Kids seminars.  They then become part of a team which then travels to Russia or Eastern Europe to teach student teachers, proficient teachers, and professors in selected universities. In some cases we present seminars to faculties of local public schools

Our history

The idea for this program was formulated in late 1998 when representatives of Character International Inc. approached officials of Volgograd State Pedagogical University (VSPU) in Volgograd, Russia about the possibility of presenting character and ethics seminars to university students and faculty. After reviewing the proposal, university leaders agreed to allow three pilot seminars to be presented for administration and faculty evaluation.

Character International Inc. trainers conducted these seminars in February 1999. University officials were very pleased with these "test" seminars and offered a permanent classroom and office facilities for the Character for Kids project (CFK).

The venture was officially inaugurated in September 1999. Since that time dozens of seminars have been conducted. In the following years projects have been instituted and seminars conducted in Vilnius and Klaipeda, Lithuania, Tallinn and Tartu, Estonia, Donetsk, Ukraine, Barnaul, Russia, and Szeged, Hungary

We are pleased with the acceptance and expansion of the Character for Kids teacher training program. Continued growth and development are envisioned as the news about this project spreads to other countries and cities of Russia and Eastern Europe.
